Pokemon Home promotion, eShop purchases derailed by technical issues. Here’s how to fix it

Pokemon Home is offering a rad promotion — deposit any monster from Pokemon Sword and Shield and get the three starters with their hidden abilities. There’s just one hitch: Many users are getting hit with Error Code 8807 making them unable to access the service, even if they have paid accounts.

The problem has been widespread enough that The Pokemon Company has updated their help page on the issue a number of times since the initial announcement, including when our Evan McIntosh tweeted about it on June 5th. Ostensibly, users cannot login to the service, and the solution isn’t pretty: You’ll need to delete your save data for affected users on the Switch or uninstall/reinstall on mobile.

Cinderace with Libero as its ability–an ability that gives a type boost for every move the monster uses– will be enough to make many Pokemon fans take the additional steps to access it for the first time.

Nintendo more broadly has also been dealing with a technical hiccup: In many countries, adding a new credit card via the Switch wasn’t permitted for nearly a week with users needing to use eShop cards, make purchase through NIntendo’s web portal, or forgo purchases altogether. Update 10.0.4 resolves the issue.
