It’s time for the Exploration Tour!
Mario Kart Tour is once again rolling out new content, new characters, and new ways to play. The new Exploration Tour is headlined by the addition of Captain Toad himself, as well as Toadette (Explorer), as new racers. The good captain’s glider is a treasure map, he drives a mine kart, and he employs the hammer as his special skill. Toadette utilizes a similar set while swapping the hammer for double Bob-ombs.
There’s an increased pull rate for the excellent Vancouver inspired Hiker Wario variant to help fit the theme. This is a good time to nab the mustachioed weirdo if you missed him at his debut.
Additionally, the N64’s Choco Mountain racetrack has joined the game’s lineup, and is featured prominently throughout this tour.
The hit app also added a (somewhat obvious) feature in the ability to race in landscape orientation. Previously the game quizzically limited races to portrait mode–or vertical–instead of utilizing a wider view of the track. We can’t see ever going back to portrait mode though that is still supported for those that like it.
A host of new features have been added to Mario Kart Tour since its debut. Back in March, proper multiplayer was added, with room codes and team races added back in May. it seems roughly every two months a major quality of life improvement is offered and the game becomes increasingly accessible each time.
