Well, I guess that explains the shock arrow.
Fans of heroes that don’t get their own movie can rest easy knowing that Hawkeye “played 18, shot 18” at least gets his own debut trailer announcing his inclusion in the post-release roster for Square Enix’s upcoming Avengers game.
Sporting a look that says “I’m a video game character”, the brush cut archer fires off shock and blast arrows, downing robotic foes. Square Enix also announced via Twitter that Hawkeye would receive his look from the “My Life As A Weapon Arc”, and it’s likely he’ll have some Ronin-inspired moves and/or looks, given the presence of the sword in the trailer above.
Fans have also spotted hearing aids on the arrow-guy — a callback to his character’s history that was revisited in the Matt Fraction storyline referenced above.
“Hawkeye has his own in-depth story mission chain which can be played either co-op or solo,” the company tweeted. “There’s also an exciting new villain debuting with Hawkeye’s story. Don’t forget – new characters & new story content/regions will be available to players at no additional cost!”
Square Enix promises that each and every character will have their own custom moves, skills, gears, emotes, and more, with additional character announcements to come.
Pre-orders for the Avengers are open now–and come with beta access–or you can buy the game on September 4th.
