Even multiplayer itself hasn’t been in the game all that long.
Mobile racer Mario Kart Tour has been busy this week with a host of new features and even a new racer joining the lineup.
Monty Mole makes his Mario Kart racing debut: Formerly, the chubby little guys have been featured obstacles, but now they’re taking their turn behind the wheel. It’s a nice 30th birthday celebration for the moles who first debuted in 1990’s Super Mario World.
Version 2.1.0 also includes multiplayer improvements such as Team Races, allowing players to make four partnerships and race that way, as well as Room Codes, basically allowing you to choose exactly who you play with. While you’re waiting to connect to other racers, Nintendo promises you can earn up to 100 coins a day just by idling.
Mario Kart Tour has received a slew of quality-of-life improvements since its September launch, including proper multiplayer in March, and this marks yet another step forward in making the game more accessible.
