Fantastic Four foe is long overdue.

We’ve been playing Marvel Puzzle Quest for the better part of six years and at this point there are only a handful of characters we’d truly consider “overdue”. Mysterio was chief among them as a Sinister Six omission but even he got his time to shine. But in the pantheon of Marvel’s first family, it seems odd that a commonly occurring threat–one that holds all the Fantastic Four’s powers–wouldn’t have arrived in the game before now. Skrulls have even infiltrated the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
Marvel Puzzle Quest continues to regularly add new characters, with additions such The Hulk (Immortal), Maria Hill, Havok, Karnak, Mister Sinister (another strange longtime omission), and Canadian character Northstar this year.
Super Skrull debuts this weekend and he brings with him a whole host of Fantastic Four powers as a 4-star cover. The combination of blue/green/purple powers is perhaps understated in Marvel Puzzle Quest so Super Skrull fills a niche there. His most unique gimmick–being able to channel any F4 member of his choosing–costs a pittance of blue at seven. According to Demiurge, enabling Kl’rt to effectively run seven powers–with four of those coming from one option, is central to playing the character:
This is Super-Skrull’s keystone ability, bringing together all four of the Fantastic Four’s powers in one move. When players select this, they can then choose from amongst the four. Choosing Invisible Woman creates an Invisibility tile for Kl’rt to avoid damage. Mister Fantastic creates Protect tiles that will overwrite enemy special tiles for not only added defense but also to prevent the opponent from capitalizing on their strengths. The Thing brings brute strength, proving multiple strikes of damage and adding some bonus Attack tiles if those pummeling blows downs the opponent. Meanwhile, the Human Torch brings a Repeater tile that creates constant Attack tiles to the board every turn, making it difficult for opponents to avoid constant damage. Attack, defense, avoidance; Whatever you need, Super-Skrull is capable of bringing it.
Super Skrull will emerge as a progression award beginning this weekend in The Hunt as well as in the Versus Tournament. You can see a full breakdown of the infiltrator himself here.
