O’Rangers win week 2.
Marble League 2020 presented by Last Week Tonight is off to a great start and the second week featured not one but two records being set.
The halfpipe event isn’t about speed but rather overall time spent on the halfpipe. Each team releases four marble racers from the game (with two teams releasing at a time) with the times for each marble arriving at the end zone added up to create the score. Fast finishing isn’t encouraged here: Racers want a high score.
Last week’s winning racers, the Minty Maniacs, would start off strong by setting a Marble League record, with a time of 33.75, trouncing the prior record by four seconds. The Hazers, with a time of 31.55, also broke the old record, but not the new one set by the Minty team. Then, moments later, the O’Rangers would break the newly set record, with three orange spheres slaloming back and forth to create a time of 34.49 seconds, setting the new record.
That score, coupled with a second run of 31.51 seconds, would be enough to keep the O’Rangers on top, catapulting the up to second place in the Marble League standings, while the Crazy Cat’s Eyes would take second place with strong showings in each round. The Minty Maniacs still hold the overall top pole position as we enter week 3.
