In a world of remote work and remote learning, screen recording is a useful feature, but all too often buried behind settings and hidden away. In older Android phones you’ll need to make use of an external app.
Pick your app.
Open the Google Play Store and search for screen recorders. Our preference is XRecorder as it has minimal ads compared to its competitors.
Set up
Install the app and accept the permissions questions it asks. This is required to use our preferred app and will often be the case for others. Once set up there will be a small camcorder icon on the side of your screen. Tap it to open the menu.Install app, and accept the permissions questions it asks. This is required to use the app.

Record away!
You’ve gone ahead and clicked the camcorder icon on the side of your screen. Click the red circle on top to start recording.
Record whatever you’d like! Tap the icon again and then the square to stop. The app will save the video to your device — including audio!
