Grand finale.
Aren’t games just better when we can all play together? EA finally seems to think so.
Need For Speed Heat is slated to be the company’s first title to offer cross-platform play. As of June 9th, a new patch will allow players on PC, PS4, and Xbox One to play together, with sizes ranging from around 1 GB on PC to over 7 GB on PS4.
In an era where many developers still don’t let players on different platforms communicate or play together, this is definitely refreshing — especially with many people’s view of EA being rather cynical. Regardless, this is a promising step in the right direction.
Additionally, the developers noted that next week Need For Speed Heat will be coming to the EA Access and Origin Access Basic Vault for subscribes of those services. The game has also recently been made available to purchase via Steam.
EA says more announcements on the series are forthcoming as Criterion Games takes to the driver’s seat for future installments.
