Persona non grata no more.
In the year 2020, did anyone expect a remaster of classic PS2 title Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne? Taking the gaming world by surprise, today’s Nintendo Direct confirmed the release of the HD remaster of SMT3, along with the release of Shin Megami Tensei 5 on the console next year. The remastered version will feature fully voice-acted cutscenes and additional difficulty settings, making the notoriously difficult game somewhat easier for those that need the assistance.
The original title, released in 2003 for the Playstation 2, was received extremely positively and is something of a cult classic. Set in post-apocalyptic Tokyo, the game centers around a nameless protagonist who navigates the world while recruiting demons, all while being supervised by Lucifer. Dante, from Capcom’s Devil May Cry series, also made it into the original game, though this remake is based on a later release that didn’t include him.
Meanwhile, the series’ fifth installment appears to throw back to the second game and will see a simultaneous global launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
