Clearly better?
Chinese electronics brand Xiaomi announced the release of a fully transparent TV — but it won’t come cheap. Retailing for $7200 USD, the TV promises to look like a pane of glass when turned off, but create the illusion of images floating in mid-air once turned on.
The 55-inch TV (no other sizes appear to be available) are on sale, but only in China, at least for the time being. As far as the technical specs go, the display reportedly has “120Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, 150,000:1 contrast ratio, and it has 93 percent of the DCI-P3 color profile” — not too bad, but other cheaper displays can be found with better specs.
Still, for some people the sheer novelty of having a fully transparent TV might be worth the asking price.
