The fire still burns.
First things first — let’s clear the air a bit. What we know as Fire Emblem here and was released on Game Boy Advance — that’s actually the seventh Fire Emblem title. Six other titles were locked away as Japan-only releases…until now, that is.
Originally released on the NES in 1990, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, the first entry into the Fire Emblem series, will be released on the Switch eShop for $5.99 USD on December 4th. Curiously though, it is a limited-time release, much like the Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collection and Super Mario Bros. 35, set to be removed at the end of March.
Luckily, Nintendo is selling a physical copy of the game as well; retailing for $29.99 USD, you get a whole bunch of a goodies including “a nostalgic, stylized physical NES box and a replica NES Game Pak art piece with a protective sleeve”, says Nintendo, along with a 222-page Legacy of Archanea deluxe hardbound art book. In addition, you will get the original NES game manual (freshly localized!), a Nintendo Power promo poster, and a fold-out world map.
Oh, and a game download code…there’s no physical copy here!
