Anniversaries abound.
Good GFX is our regular round-up of cool screenshots, trailers, fan art, cosplay, merch, and more that doesn’t fit neatly into a post of its own each week. It drops every weekend for your enjoyment!
This week, it’s all about Twitter. Or at least, mostly about Twitter. First up, what if ARMS wasn’t coming to Smash, but rather a different stretchy-armed friend instead? Twitter user @thegreyzen gives us that what-if:
Speaking of Mario, the video below explains why Super Mario 64‘s triple jump animation was so dang impressive at the time! Seriously, SM64 still holds up well to this day, thanks in part to little touches like that, along with doing things that nobody was doing at the time. If you need me, I’ll be digging out my N64…
Alright, I’m back! Did you know Super Mario 64 turns 24 this year? Other notable anniversaries are happening shortly as well, like Pac-Man’s 40TH anniversary! It’s hard to believe it’s been so long since one of the most well-known video games was released. To celebrate, Bandai-Namco released a music video back in 2019 (why we don’t know) called JOIN THE PAC, and it’s actually…pretty good. Check it out:
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is also celebrating its 5-year anniversary, and there’s some pretty cool art being made for it:
In recent games releases, we’ve got the shiny yet violent shoot-em-up Neon Abyss! Drenched in bright neon colors and describing itself as a “frantic, roguelite action-platformer where you run ‘n’ gun your way into the Abyss”, it reminds me of a mashup between Hotline Miami and Jamestown. Can’t wait to try it! Release date not firm, and is only listed as Q3 2020. A downloadable demo is available for free, though (which I’ll be downloading ASAP!).
Quarantine has been different for all of us, with many of us trying new things or unleashing our creative sides. Mike Mignola, creator of the Hellboy franchise, is no exception. He’s been sketching up a storm over on his Instagram, including some pretty neat Pokemon pieces.
We’ll finish up in the Twitterverse! The official Fire Emblem Heroes Twitter account posted a series of wedding-themed art pieces that look absolutely gorgeous. Check them out below:
Finally, the official Minecraft Dungeons trailer dropped, and it looks so, so good.
Until next time!
